25 Kilometers from Indore, amidst the backwaters of Yashwant Sagar dam, is a little slice of heaven, close to the jungles of the Gulawat village. Adorned with lotuses, the Gulawat lotus valley, originated from River Gambhir is soon becoming the quintessential tourist attraction. Allegedly the largest lotus valley in Asia, Gulawat Valley has certain attractions that take it far ahead in popularity and make tourists swarm in to soak up this land of beauty.

What makes Gulawat valley so special?

• The Gulawat lotus valley, adorned with pink lotuses that bloom fully in the winters, is said to be the largest lotus valley in the whole of Asia.
• The Sunset here is to die for. Tourists compare the sunset at the Gulawat Valley to be similar to the picturesque Kashmir and Kanyakumari!
• The Bamboo tree forests give amazing views, making the entire landscape picture-perfect. The bamboo trees have immense height, making them bend inwards; this creates canopies, giving a vision that shall forever be etched in the minds of the viewers.
• It has become an ideal location for photoshoots and pre-wedding shoots. People plan trips to visit the Gulawat Valley and get them-selves clicked in the middle of the beauty of the lake, the lotuses, and the seemingly endless bamboos.
• Activities like horse riding, cycling, open jeep rides, etc are available here. The bamboo forests have beautiful swings installed on the branches for people to sit, relax and simply appreciate everything that surrounds them.

A place which was once described as a dream project by the former Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan, Gulawat Lotus Valley has been included in the new vision of tourism development for Madhya Pradesh by the Kamal Nath Government. A plan to clean up the premises of the lake and adding Shikaras to lure in the tourists has been chalked up. In addition to this, the Lotus Valley shall be dotted with attractive lights, and a skywalk over the lake shall be built. Finally, as the epicenter of the entire scenic valley, a roof-top restaurant will be built. The entire project will provide employment to a number of people and shall be a glowing opportunity to bring in revenue through tourism. Five villages surrounding the Gulawat Lotus Valley, including the village of Gulawat itself are to be made as floral villages, further enhancing the charm of the place.
