 On talking to Indore’s Cyber Cell SP, Mr. Jitendra Singh, he told us about the online fraud and suicide cases they came across in Indore. He told us about the way they tackle the cases of online fraud with kids. The cell does counseling sessions with the concerned kid & tries to understand his state of mind. In most cases, the cell has found the reason to be either an expensive gadget or online gaming accessories. This means that children have lost their parents’ money to buy such things online. Mr. Singh believes that a major role in such cases is played by the parents, friends, and even the teachers of the kid. It is very important to keep a check on your kid’s behavior regularly. Keeping a check helps us understand their plannings and mindset.

There are so many parenting control software available today which can be used by parents. Moreover, parents should be aware and active around their children. Keep an eye on your child’s behavior, mood, friends, the activities he/she does on social media, and the gaming sites they visit. This will help a lot in preventing such crimes and will also help parents to make their children understand right and wrong. 

Even after taking precautions, it is possible to become the victim of such crimes. In such a case, the most important thing to remember is to not panic at all. The first you should do is to complain at your nearest police station or cyber cell with all the information that you have. If in any circumstances, one can’t visit the police station, they can still complain through the official online portal of the government- www.cybercrime.gov.in 

This portal will register your complaint and you will get the help needed as soon as possible. Moreover, if you ever become a victim of online fraud or lose money online in any kind of way, you can call on the helpline number- 155260 and complain about the fraud. No matter what kind of fraud or mishap it is, always remember to seek help from government officials and stay alert.
