Indore Metro routes to be changed; the train will run across these market areas.
Indore. If all goes by plan, the metro train will now run on Jawahar Marg instead of MG Road. After heavy opposition from senior BJP leader Sumitra Mahajan, the Metro train company has prepared a new route, which will run underground in front of the High Court towards the railway station and run on Jawahar Marg. This route is going to be presented to the public representatives soon. As soon as it is approved, the company will speed up the activity.
Metro train work is going on at a rapid pace in the city. The first phase of the train is said to run in the city by September. The speed of work between the airport to super corridor, MR-10, Vijay Nagar, Ring Road via Khajrana and Bengali Square is as rapid as the speed of the metro train. After that, the brainstorming for the second phase intensified. The journey beyond Bengali Square will reach the front of the High Court via Canadian Road, Palasia. There was a ruckus going on about the further route.
Earlier, the metro train company had planned to run an underground train from the top of Shastri Bridge to the front of Gandhi Hall, which would have stayed directly up to Bada Ganpati. This was openly opposed by senior BJP leader Sumitra Mahajan. she made it clear that on this route, Gandhi Hall, Krishnapura Chhatri, Rajwada and other densely populated roads of the city come under the Archeology Department. The Metro will not be allowed here at any cost.
Later, the company talked about building an elevated bridge, which also led to opposition.
On this, Tai had proposed to divert it towards Subhash Marg, but the company has rejected it and prepared a new proposal. The entire plan is now ready, only the approval of the public representatives is awaited. The company wants everyone to agree on the new route once, after which the work can be expedited by making further DPR.
