IRCTC Unlock on 392 specials trains for this Festive season starting from 20th October.
With the onset of the mega festivals of Navratri, Dussehra, Diwali, and Chhatt IRCTC has announced unlock on 392 special trains to run from 20th October till 30th November 2020. On special demand from the citizens, 196 pair of trains shall run for the limited period of 40 days, starting from cities like Lucknow, Kolkata, Patna, Varanasi, Mumbai, Delhi, etc. these special trains are all of Superfast variety with a minimum 55 km/hr, that vary from daily trains to four times per week and once a week trains. These trains would have 10-30% more fare in comparison to mail/express trains due to its special category. Railway Board Chairman Mr. Vinod Kumar Yadav stated that if required, more special trains shall be run for the festival season.
Apart from these limited-time trains, the western railways have also decided to run 15 additional pairs of special trains including the Mumbai-Ahmadabad Tejas Express to meet the high demand of passengers, despite the ongoing pandemic. Other trains include:

- Bandra Terminus-Ramnagar Superfast Special Express
- Bandra-Lucknow Superfast Special Express
- Bandra-Bhavnagar Superfast Special Express
- Bandra-Bhuj AC special Express
- Bandra-Nizamuddin Special Yuva Express
- Valsad-Haridwar Superfast Special Express
- Valsad-Puri Superfast Special Express
- Surat-Bhagalpur Superfast Special express
- Udhna – Danapur Special Express
- Vadodara – Varanasi Superfast Special Express
- Bhavnagar – Asansol Superfast Special Express
- Ambedkar Nagar – Kamakhya Special Express
Through an order released to the Zonal Railway, it was asked to increase the number of AC 3 tier coaches in the train. Since unlock after 12th May, a total of 550 mail/special trains have been running country-wide that include 15 pairs of Rajdhani special trains and at least 100 pairs of long-distance trains in all. The country had a total of 11,000 trains running before the pandemic hit the country meanwhile currently, only 8.6% of trains are actively running on the track.
