One More Step Towards a Clean Indore: 'Main Hun Jholandhari Indori'.

The story of Indore jumping from rank below 25 to the 1st in Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in just a year is something probably everyone knows about out there, right? The people of Indore, along with the authorities have done so much hard work to maintain the topmost position in cleanliness through all these years. If you are an Indori, you sure know it all. The mantra of cleanliness has been injected so deeply inside us Indoris that we never back off to do something environmentally friendly. We are always ready to take eco-friendly initiatives. Now, to remain the best city in cleanliness, the municipal corporation has again started an interesting and super fun initiative. What is it? And how is it going to make Indore cleaner? Hold on right here till the end to get these answers!

“Main Hun Jholadhaari Indori!” 

Yes, You read it right, “Main Hoon Jholadhaari Indori” is the new campaign started in the city intending to inspire people to use eco-friendly cotton carry bags instead of Polythene and Plastic. This campaign was started in December 2021. A lot of women of the city are a part of this campaign wherein they are making cotton carry bags themselves. Under this campaign, the municipal corporation requests people to use only eco-friendly, that is cotton carry bags wherever they go.

The centers for making these cotton carry bags are located at four prominent areas in the city- Rajwada, Meghdoot Garden, Palasia, and Malwa Mill. At all these locations, women will be making Jholas for the use of the public and will also get paid. The goal is to make 6 lakh Jholas by the 10th of January 2022. These bags will then be distributed to the people of Indore. 

How Can You Contribute?  

Every campaign, every initiative succeeds in its cause only when it gets support. The “Main Hun Jholadhaari Indori” campaign needs the support and participation of the public. There are so many ways in which you can contribute to this campaign. 

• Like many women who are making ‘Jholas’ in this campaign, you can make some too if you know how to stitch. 
• At the locations where this campaign is taking place, you can donate Jholas or old clothes for making jholas. 
• The women making jholas in this campaign will be getting paid for the number of jholas they make. So, you can buy some from this campaign and contribute. 
• The biggest contribution that you can make in this campaign is boycotting plastic carry bags and polythenes and switching to cotton carry bags. 

If you are a true citizen of Indore, you should contribute to this campaign in your way. The way this campaign has accelerated in just a few days & has inspired people to boycott plastic is incredible. So, this year, let us all try to avoid plastic as much as possible, and let’s make Indore the Cleanest City of Indore once in a row.
