Indore is a city that has over the years started to transform itself into a place where entrepreneurs feel the most secure to establish their start-ups. Major start-ups that have now become an international entity, laid their foundations in Indore with their limited seed money, and progressed to grow because of the city’s economical living and varied market. Due to Indore’s policies of supporting start-ups and the lack of heavy competition as compared to other metro cities, the city has housed multiple such start-ups that could earn enough profit to expand all over the country and even the world.

Shopkirana

One of the most successful start-up companies in Indore, ShopKirana is a B2B shopper supply chain company that uses advanced technology to provide supply chain management services to retailers across India. The start-up envisions to empower millions of retailers and organizes the grocery segment in the country.

Tanutejas Saraswat started ShopKirana in 2014. Before starting ShopKirana, Tanutejas had two failed ventures too. The start-up now has 12,000 plus retailers on its platform. It is now looking to expand to 30 cities and onboarding one lakh retailers in the next 18-24 months.

Oye 24

Indoris are foodies by heart, and despite all the plethora of food joints available all over the city, it is difficult for people to visit them all the time to fulfil their cravings. Oye24 glides in here to create a list of happy customers by giving them what they need, hot delicious food in affordable prices. Oye24 is an Indore-based food producer, aggregator and delivery start-up. It offers 24/7 free delivery services with no minimum order size, consistent food quality and pocket-friendly prices. It serves multiple cuisines from various vendors along with food cooked at its own in-house kitchen.

MotionGility

MotionGility is a graphics company that majorly focuses on providing explainer animation videos for companies who need to advertise or familiarize the customers and audience with their brands. MotionGility provides services not only for explainer videos but also creates product videos, mobile app videos, whiteboard videos, and educational videos. The company was established five years ago and worked in a small office space with few clients who trusted the start-up believing that they would provide quality results in less than the market price.

Gramophone

Founded in 2016 by IIT and IIM Ahmedabad graduates Tauseef Ahmad Khan, Nishant Vats Mahatre, Harshit Gupta and Ashish Rajan Singh, Gramophone is an Indore-based agro-tech start-up building an Intelligent Farming Platform, which has enabled more than 550,000 Indian farmers to increase their income based on improved farming practices. The platform acts as a doctor and a pharmacy to the farmers. The start-up also provides guidance on what nutrients to add to a crop, what crop diseases to protect from, soil management techniques, best prices for agro inputs, etc.

Gramophone’s KrishiMitra app serves as the point of access for farmers. Even those without smartphones can connect with agro experts and agronomists on Gramophone through a missed-call system.

Chai Sutta Bar

Anubhav Dubey along with his friend Anand Nayak, at the age of 22, started the Chai Sutta Bar in 2016 which was later joined by their friend Rahul Patidar. The first outlet was opened in Bhavarkua, after which there was no looking back. Their highlight is to serve authentic and hygienic chai in Kulhads, keeping it close to nature. There are more than 24 outlets all over India now, all ready to expand. They have proved to be quite successful in their mission which is to become an inspirational food venture where the goodness of Indian tradition is served on the bar table by providing high-quality hygienic beverages in Kulhad at affordable prices.

Indore’s major reasons for being the home to such high profit yielding start-ups are firstly the low operation costs which allows entrepreneurs to operate even with low funds and earn higher profits. Indore is also an excellent city for economical cost of living especially when compared with other metropolitans where high parts of the generated revenue is spent in maintaining a living. Indore’s commendably fast growing Infrastructure is a boost up for start-ups who find easy locations to operate their businesses from. The fact that Indore is a major education hub of the state provides the start-ups young and sharp employees who are fresh out of pursuing education and hence prove to be not only a smart but also economical addition to the team.
