MX TakaTak: A brand new short video app by MX player, midst Made in India boom.
Since the Indian government released a notice regarding the ban of 59 Chinese apps, including the immensely popular TikTok, Indian app developers have found a blooming opportunity to take over these apps in the country. With similar motivation, MX Player an Indian video streaming and video on demand application developed by MX Media & Entertainment (formerly J2 Interactive) having over 280 million users globally, launched an app named MXTakaTak. The app, much to its name, is aimed to be the hotspot of fun and interactive videos that can be shared on various other social media platforms. The app was launched on google play store on Wednesday, 8th July 2020, and since then has already seen 1,000,000+ downloads. The features mentioned on the app profile stated that- “MX TakaTak offers you real and fun videos that you can watch and share on social media. You can find all types of videos, ranging from Dialogue Dubbing, Comedy, Gaming, DIY, Food, Sports, Memes, and many more.”
MX player, which currently operates on an ad-supported model and has a streaming library of over 150,000 hours across 12 languages, has undoubtedly seized the opportunity to gain users who have to inevitably shift from TikTok to a new platform. MXTakaTak is a wholesome Indian package for Indian users and strategically launched at a time when the Niti Aayog launched Digital India AatmaNirbhar Bharat Innovate Challenge to identify the best Indian Apps that are already being used by citizens and have the potential to scale and become world-class This Innovation challenge has various cash awards and incentives for featuring Apps on Leader Boards. Apart from this, MX Player also launched MXShareKaro, the Indian alternative for Chinese apps like ShareIt and Xender that was massively popular for sharing and transferring apps, videos, photos, and other media. MXShareKaro claims to transfer files 200 times faster than the Bluetooth option available in the mobile phones. The app currently supports English and Indian languages like Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, Bengali, Gujarati, Marathi, and Punjabi. The made in India campaign has not only encouraged the developers to create evolved and better alternatives for popular apps in the world, but it has also made the Indians aware about giving preference to Indian apps over the others.
