Commercial E-Vehicle owners: Separate power connection.

Commercial E-vehicle owners have to get separate power connection.

The global automotive industry is undergoing a paradigm shift at present in trying to switch to alternative or less energy-intensive options. So India, too, is investing in this electric mobility shift. The burden of oil imports, rising pollution, and as well as international commitments to combat global climate change are among the key factors motivating India’s recent policies to speed up the transition to e-mobility. The Indian automotive industry is the fifth-largest in the world and is slated to be the third-largest by 2030.

Catering to a vast domestic market, reliance on the conventional modes of fuel-intensive mobility will not be sustainable. In an effort to address this, federal policymakers are developing a mobility option. That is “Shared, Connected, and Electric” and has projected an ambitious target.

Therefore MP is also being a step forward in being electrically mobile. So the e-Vehicle are running on the roads of the capital and commercial capital of Madhya Pradesh. Those using electric vehicles as commercial will be required to have a separate electricity connection to charge the vehicles, as per an official release.

As per the release, under sub-section 2 of Section 135 of the Electricity Act, 2003, action will be taken by seizing the e-rickshaw/ vehicle and related equipment for charging if such vehicles are charged through electricity connections meant for domestic, agricultural, or other purposes.

It is worth mentioning that the Madhya Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission has introduced separate rates of electricity for the charging of electric vehicles.
