DAVV Indore

Research aspirants looking to pursue a PhD from Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV), Indore have a significant opportunity this year. The university has accelerated its PhD admission process and announced 599 vacant seats across 22 subjects under the Non-DET (National Eligibility Test-based) admission category.

Among all disciplines, Commerce (202 seats) and Management (135 seats) account for more than half of the available seats, making them the largest research streams this admission cycle. More than 400 candidates have already applied for these two subjects alone, indicating strong competition.

Other subjects with notable vacancies include Computer Science (36), Zoology (29), Physics (28), Chemistry (28), Economics (24), Education (19), Botany (13), and Law (11). Several disciplines such as English, Political Science, and Geography have only one seat each, while subjects like Biotechnology, Psychology, Hindi, Sociology, Electronics, and Biochemistry have fewer than ten seats.

The university has also uploaded the list of 234 registered PhD guides, who collectively reported the available vacancies through an online portal. Currently, applications are under scrutiny, and subject-wise selection lists are expected to be released shortly.

Candidates shortlisted for admission will be invited for interviews before the Research Advisory Committee (RAC), which are scheduled to begin in July. The university has directed all departments to complete the admission process within the next one and a half months.

Meanwhile, DAVV is also conducting admissions through the Doctoral Entrance Test (DET) for 11 technical and professional subjects, including Applied Chemistry, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Pharmacy, Information Technology, and Electronics. The provisional answer key for DET is expected to be released next week, after which candidates will have five days to submit objections before the final results are declared.

The large number of vacant PhD seats, particularly in Commerce and Management, reflects DAVV’s expanding focus on research and higher education. For students aspiring to build careers in academia, research, policy, or industry, this admission cycle presents an excellent opportunity. However, with competition intensifying in popular disciplines, candidates should stay updated with selection lists, interview schedules, and official university notifications to avoid missing important deadlines.
