How Technology makes survival easier during COVID-19 Lockdown.

There have been Pandemics littered in the history of the world. While most Pandemics had lasting effects on life and property, they left people with lasting trauma and anxiety. The 2020 COVID Pandemic has one major benefit over others, the advancement in the generation and major facilities available today that lacked previously. Technology has been a major aid for survival, with providing updates to making items of necessity available on the doorstep, from helping the economy survive to connecting the people from across nations. Without technology, perhaps the downfall of this generation would’ve been a steady possibility. Various aspects of life have been successfully handled by technology, ensuring an easy travel through the road to survival through the COVID-19 Pandemic.

• WHO receives support from digital technology companies, resolving to improve and revolutionize the health-care technology world-wide. This pandemic has triggered an unprecedented demand for digital health technology solutions and has revealed successful solutions such as for population screening, tracking the infection, prioritizing the use and allocation of resources, and designing targeted responses.
• Technology has been a major support in providing survival essentials for people with services like online delivery through a number of sources, including Flipkart, Ondoor, Big Basket, Swiggy, Zomato etc. providing home delivery services and contact less delivery has made it easier for people to get groceries and other essentials safely delivered at home.
• Technology has also encouraged Education through Online Classes, making sure that the studies of students are not getting hampered despite the conditions of the world. This would ensure a smooth transition for students from an extended lock-down period to going back to their normal schedule of school and college without a hitch.
• Technology has made Socialization while Social Distancing much easier. Families are trapped in different parts of the country and even the world but still are able to communicate and remain close despite the physical barriers. This has been possible only through technology.
• The Government of India has promptly utilized the benefits of technology by providing citizens with useful applications like UMANG (Unified Mobile Application for New-Age Governance) a common, unified platform and mobile app to facilitate a single point of access to all government services. Apart from this, there are apps like e-Hospital, e-Pathshala which are in collaboration with various departments dedicated to provide services to the people.
• Money is the essential requirement that cannot be scarce in times like this. Online payments and transactions using Paytm, Bhim-UPI, PhonePay and many others has made it easy for people to function through electronic money in a time where physical distancing is the norm. Here too technology has made it possible for money to flow in some form, facilitating the economy to stay afloat.

Technology might have its vices, but it’s unquestionably the saving grace for humans world-wide, keeping together the civilization and making sure that the fast paced lives of people at least remain into a sprint and not completely stop.
