India’s Nightingale Lata Mangeshkar on ventilator, This Uncommon Indori needs our prayers.

Born on September 28th, 1929, Lata Mangeshkar was born and brought up in our city of Indore. She is the Indian music Industry’s most respected and reputed playback singer of all time, since the beginning of her career as a singer in 1942 at the age of 13. She has won a number of prestigious awards, being the first woman in the industry to win Dada Saheb Phalke Award, Bharat Ratna Award. She also won numerous Filmfare and National Film Awards and the prestigious Satyajit Ray Award. She has been the heartbeat of the Indian Film Industry for decades and has been acclaimed all over the globe, compelling the American scientists to claim that a voice like hers has never been heard before and after her, there shall never be one again. Lovingly called Didi, and is a huge cricket fan too, admitting that she’s a huge fan of Sachin Tendulkar.

Born in the Sikhha Moholla of Indore, her parents died in 1942 when she was just 13 years old. Lata Ji sang a total of 50,000 songs approximately, in 20 different languages. For this, she was recorded in the Guinness Book of World Records as early in 1974 for being the most recorded artist in history, by recording around 25,000 songs between 1948 and 1974. Named Hema on birth, her father Deenanath Ji started training her in music at the tender age of five. Her sisters Asha Bhosle, and Usha and Meena are also singers.

Unfortunately for us, at the age of 90, Latajii hospitalized and on the ventilator. She was rushed to the Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai on Monday 11th November 2019. According to the statement by the hospital authorities, Lataji’s condition is a little sensitive but she is recovering. She had complaints of chest infection, after which she was hospitalized. The whole industry is shaken up by the sudden news and everyone is praying for her to get well soon.

We have a special connection with this Uncommon Indori and we all sincerely pray that she recovers and goes home soon. Our industry is not yet ready to leave this gem behind. We’ll pray that she has a speedy recovery and revitalizes us with her melodies for more years to come.
