Shridha School in Indore is one such place, built with an aim to serve children with learning disabilities or difficulties. Shridha School, in consultation and collaboration with the Gateway School of Mumbai, is nothing short of a safe haven for all those children who had a difficult time prospering in mainstream schools. Shridha values skills like confidence and self-assurance over the old-school education system of our country.
At Shridha, the classrooms provide a constructive learning environment, free from pressures and encourage learning alongside catering to the child’s psychological needs. With an evidence-based education system and giving importance to individual education, Shridha makes sure each student is given an equal chance to advance, grow and prosper. The journey of Shridha School began with the Parth Therapy Centre, where parents often used to share problems of their children who were unable to fit in mainstream schools, often disrupting their psychology and indirectly causing them to fall into depression. It was Mrs. Garvisha Barjatya Jain’s vision to create a place for these children to be loved, motivated and accepted exactly as they are; a place for them to grow and stay happy. Shridha maintains a healthy balance between three major components, as explained by the head of school Ms. Aziel Marques. These include:
Curricular: Mathematics, Science, Language, humanities and other board-certified subjects, aiming that the students are competent enough to appear for any of the board-certified examinations.
Co-Curricular: Music and instruments, art and paintings, drama, sports
Therapy: Socio-emotional, speech and language, occupational therapy
Shridha School focuses on teaching the students practical approaches and life concepts so that they could smartly tackle situations in the real world. Students give presentations on an elementary level, helping them feel confident and elevate their self-esteem. Children sit together to have their lunch while learning table manners and eating etiquettes. They learn how to share and use phrases like Please and Thank you. Reading component, thinking, and reasoning are all enhanced through Interactive and creative methods and games like Kahoot, where the students participate not to compete but to learn something new.
