10 Behtareen Things Indore will see this New Year in 2020.

Indore is changing, growing, evolving and taking major strides in development. The New Year is set to bring major developments, plans, and events in the city, a bunch of top 10 of which has been listed below.
 

1. Pipliyahana Flyover

 
The World-Cup Chouraha, also known as Pipliyahana is a major part of the Eastern ring road, a road with heavy traffic flow from all sides. The Indore Development Authority contracted the building of a smart 6-lane flyover, construction of which had been started on 25 April 2019. The completion of the flyover is to be done in a period of 18 months. Therefore October 2020 marks the finishing point of this grand project. A total of 36 crores are to be invested in the build. IDA CEO Goutam Singh said this will be an a-2 arm, 6-lane flyover, which will be 750- meters long and 24-meter wide. “This will be a magnificent example of a smart flyover, where state-of-art technology will be used. Landscaping on either side will also be a part of the project,” he said.
 

2. IIFA awards 2020

 
After the successful hosting of ITA Awards 2019, Madhya Pradesh government has invited the International Indian Film Academy who organizes one of Bollywood’s most prestigious awards, to be hosted in Indore and Bhopal in 2020. Minister for public relations P C Sharma shared the news with media after getting approval from chief minister Kamal Nath. With an expenditure of 700 crores, the awards will be telecasted in 90 countries and would bring about major employment opportunities in our city for sound, light, film recording, etc. It would also bring about major tourism opportunities for the city and the state.
 

3. Thailand International flight

 
Keeping in mind the huge number of travelers who visit Bangkok from the state regularly, the MP Chapter of Travel Agents Federation of India (TAFI)announced starting direct flights from Indore International Airport to Bangkok, Thailand. This would make traveling easier for all those who visit Bangkok for vacations or to celebrate weddings. It would also boost up the tourism of the state and the city of Indore.
 

4. Declared to be a Metropolitan

 
With the current population of 39 Lakhs, Indore is to be declared as a Metropolitan city in 2020. The whole outlook of the city would change into a more developed landscape, with flyovers and systematic city planning. With the new status, Municipal Corporation Council will be converted into Metropolitan Region Council. Its autonomy will increase and it will be called the City Government. The urban boundaries will extend to Betma on Dhar Road, Pithampur-Manpur on Mhow Road, beyond Simrol on Khandwa Road, Depalpur on Hatod Road and Saver-Ujjain on Ujjain Road.
 

5. Choka in Swachhta Survekshan

 
Since the Swatchhta Sarvekshan started in our country, in 2017, Indore city has been the consecutive winner, creating a Hatrick for the award. The year 2020 holds the resolution for the Indore Municipal Council to bring home yet another award for cleanliness and create a Chouka. To fulfill this task the IMC has implemented various measures like banning polythene and urging major areas of the city to be single-use plastic-free. We have high hopes that with the current rate of hard work and progress, our city would win once again.
 

6. Fully Restored Rajwada

 
After Note enterprises, a private agency that was hired by the IMC for the restoration of Rajwada failed to make any progress in the given time, the IMC issued a termination notice with 2 Lakhs of penalty for unable to fulfill the task. It was hired in February 2018 and was given a period of 24 months to complete the job, yet in May 2019 it could not even do half of it. An estimated cost of Rs. 20 crores has been fixed for this conservation and restoration project. Finally, the project has been allotted to a news agency and the deadline has been extended to January 2020.
 

7. Super Corridor Constructed

 
Under the new development plan of Indore city to be declared as a metropolitan, the development of RW-2 Road, which will be an extension of Super Corridor, connecting with Indore-Pithampur road is to pave way for the expansion of airport and development of Scheme 172. It will be about 2km long and 75m wide — as is the current width of the Super Corridor. The super corridor development shall be finished in 2020, aiding in the announcement of Indore as a Metropolitan city.
 

8. 2020 ICF Dragon Boat World Championship

 
The International Canoe Federation is organizing its Annual Dragon Boat world Championship at the Bilawal Lake, Indore from 12th to 15th November 2020. The International Canoe Federation (ICF) is the umbrella organization of all national canoe organizations worldwide. It is headquartered in Lausanne, Switzerland, and administers all aspects of canoe sport worldwide. 157 countries are affiliated with the ICF. The event is a major highlight for the city’s tourism and would be a delight for Indore’s people. 
 

9. Smart Traffic Signal System

 
Under the Smart City Development Project, the IMC and Indore Traffic Police have declared a new smart project to develop smart traffic signals. The idea is to co-ordinate the signals in a manner that if you drive at a speed of 40 Km/hr you shall not need to wait at any signals at all. This smart idea shall be in full swing in the coming year. It is said to have a major advantage in reducing traffic and signal to break in the city and would go a long way to improve the bad traffic situation in the city.
 

10. Greater Kailash Road as the ‘Ideal Road’

 
The Indore Municipal Corporation started the development of the Greater Kailash road in November 2019 and is all set to be face-lifted to give out a demo of how an ideal road in the city should be. The road has well-painted dividers, with lush plants and bushes. Proper footpaths and painted lines to demarcate the roads have been made. New signals have been installed on the Saket square and beautiful wall paintings adorn the entire road. An estimated cost of 6 crore rupees is to be spent on the project. While the selfie zone will be developed near a Nursing Home on this road, the stretch will have green cover at two locations including a bus stand in the area. Besides, there would be a sculpture with the slogan ‘My Indore’ at the selfie point.
