“The future of careers will not be defined only by traditional degrees, but by the ability to create, adapt and keep learning.”
Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming and Comics collectively known as AVGC were once viewed largely as niche creative fields. Today, they are becoming part of a much larger career ecosystem, opening opportunities for young people who want to combine creativity with technology.
In this episode of The Undiscussed Podcast, Shajan Samuel, Sr. Vice President at Aptech Ltd., explores how dramatically the creative career landscape has changed over the last decade and why the creator economy has accelerated this transformation.
One of the most important lessons is that AVGC is not limited to becoming an animator. The industry brings together a wide range of skills and career paths from animation, VFX and game design to storytelling, 3D, character development, production, technology and several emerging roles. For students, this means discovering the right specialization can be more important than simply choosing a conventional career path.
The rise of the creator economy has further changed the equation. Digital platforms have created new avenues for people to build audiences, showcase their skills and turn creative abilities into professional opportunities. Creativity is no longer restricted to traditional studios or media companies.
Then comes Artificial Intelligence. Is AI a threat to creative careers or an opportunity to work differently? The conversation points towards an important mindset shift: technology will continue to change workflows, but people who understand technology and combine it with creativity can remain relevant.
Perhaps the most powerful lesson is that careers are no longer necessarily lifelong professions. The modern professional must keep learning, upgrading skills and adapting to new tools. The ability to learn continuously may become more valuable than relying on a single skill learned years ago.
The discussion also raises an important question for Indore: Can the city become a stronger creative hub? Building that ecosystem requires awareness among students and parents, industry exposure, quality training, opportunities and stronger connections between education and the creative economy.
For parents and students, the message is equally important. Choosing a creative career should not be based on assumptions or fear. It should begin with understanding the industry, identifying individual strengths and exploring where creativity and technology intersect.
The future of AVGC is ultimately about much more than animation or gaming. It is about a generation of creators learning to turn imagination into skills and skills into careers.
