It is believed that this temple was constructed by the king of Indore, Maharaja Shivajirao Holkar in 1760. This makes the temple almost 1000 years old. Was once merely a jungle

Though the temple is now linked with numerous areas of the city by numerous roads there was a time when this temple was merely surrounded by dense trees and animals like deer and jackals. Going 25 to 30 years back, there was nothing in this area. However, the area has gradually developed to become one of the most populated areas of Indore. Moreover, the temple now also organizes a fair during the days of Navratri for the various devotees visiting the temple during those days. This fair goes on for the 9 days of Navratri and offers entertainment and amusement to the visitors.

The temple premises consist of a few snack centers, a beautiful garden, and a few shops for toys for the kids.
