Online Courses

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has introduced 19 free online technology courses for students of Classes 8 to 12, offering an opportunity to learn future-focused skills beyond the regular school curriculum. The courses are available through the NIELIT Digital University (NDU) platform and are designed to help students develop digital and technical competencies at an early stage.

The initiative focuses on preparing students for emerging careers by introducing them to technologies that are transforming industries worldwide. The courses are completely free and can be accessed online, allowing students to learn at their own pace.

What Courses Are Available?

The programme includes courses in several high-demand technology domains, including:

  • Artificial Intelligence (AI)
  • Python Programming
  • Data Science
  • Cyber Security
  • Internet of Things (IoT)
  • Cloud Computing
  • Semiconductor Design
  • Other advanced digital technologies

These courses aim to strengthen students’ programming abilities, digital literacy, and understanding of emerging technologies while complementing classroom learning.

Why Is CBSE Introducing These Courses?

With industries rapidly adopting AI and digital technologies, employers increasingly value candidates who possess practical technology skills alongside academic qualifications. By introducing these courses at the school level, CBSE hopes to encourage students to explore technology-driven careers early and build a strong foundation before entering higher education.

The initiative also supports the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which emphasizes skill-based learning, digital education, and multidisciplinary development.

Who Can Enroll?

The courses are open to CBSE students from Classes 8 to 12 and are hosted on the NIELIT Digital University platform. Students can register online and complete the modules independently, making it easier to learn without disrupting their regular academic schedule.
