Indore Holkar Stadium ready all set to host the Test Match between India vs Bangladesh.

Indore is having its hands full with one after other grand events. After the Magnificent MP summit, The McDowell’s No. 1 Yaari Jam Concert then the prestigious ITA Awards we are now all set to host team India in our city for a Test Match which is going to be played in Holkar Cricket Stadium. The declared dates for the match are from Thursday 14th November to Monday 18th November 2019, against the team of Bangladesh. The Indian and Bangladeshi cricket team landed in Indore from Nagpur for practices on 11th November. The teams have been allotted different hotels, The Indian team is staying in Radisson and the Bangladesh Team is staying in Marriott.

One of the major highlights of this event is that the Indore Municipal Corporation has taken a special initiative to allot fifty workers on rotation every day in the five days of the matches, for the purpose of maintaining cleanliness and hygiene. The special thing is that after they are done with their duties, the cleaning staff shall be allowed to sit with the audience to enjoy the match. The Holkar stadium ground has state of art facilities, with floodlights that allow the match to continue at night without any glitches. This is not the first international cricket match that has been played on the Holkar ground. There have been 5 ODIs, one test match and one T20I match to date, the first ODI being the match against England in 2006. The stadium has around 30,000 seats in it out of which 16,000 seats are on sale. The rest have been reserved for VIPs and dignitaries. According to BCCI reports, 7,000 plus seats have already been sold. Online tickets are now closed; you can collect tickets from the venue itself on the day of the match.

Something else that has to be noted regarding the T20I match is that the whole stadium is a ‘Single-use plastic-free zone’. This promotes and supports the new initiative taken up by the Indore Municipal Corporation to try to completely ban single-use plastic in the city of Indore. Another set of T20I match against the team of Sri Lanka shall be held on 7th January in 2020 in the Holkar Stadium.

This match has got the whole Indore pretty excited and people are ready to fill the stadium with hoots and cheers for their country to win. Team India has lost only one match out of the seven international matches played on this ground. Let’s all hope that this time too our city proves to be a lucky charm for our hard-working players!
