Madhya Pradesh implements a new online testing system for learner’s driving licences from October 23, 2026. The updated module introduces face authentication, camera-based monitoring and a secure examination browser to make the online test more transparent and prevent impersonation.
The new system requires applicants to complete the test themselves, strengthening identity verification and reducing the possibility of agents taking the examination on someone else’s behalf.
The Story
The National Informatics Centre (NIC) develops the new module for the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways’ Sarathi portal. The system verifies an applicant’s identity through facial authentication and monitors the examination through a camera. A secure examination browser also helps prevent irregularities during the test.
The updated process addresses concerns about applicants sharing their Aadhaar details and one-time passwords (OTPs) with agents, who then take the online test on their behalf. Such practices undermine the purpose of the learner’s licence examination, which assesses an applicant’s basic understanding of traffic rules and road safety.
Under the test format described by the Regional Transport Office, applicants answer 10 questions and need at least six correct answers to pass. The new verification and monitoring measures help ensure that the person applying for the licence is the same person taking the examination.
Applicants in Indore seeking a learner’s driving licence must now follow the updated online testing process and complete the examination themselves. The changes aim to improve accountability and make the licensing process more reliable.
🎙️ Indore Talk Take
A learner’s licence is the first step towards becoming a responsible driver. With face authentication and camera monitoring now implemented, the online test places greater emphasis on genuine participation and knowledge of traffic rules—not simply obtaining a licence.
