The Anticipated Third Wave: Ways We Can Fight & Steps by the Government.

The way Covid-19 hit the whole world in 2020 was quite huge and terrifying. The two waves of this disease have given us all a new way of living life and a new perspective. Months after the second wave, Indore was finally seen coming on the right and stable track. People finally started living their lives without fear and all the Covid-19 restrictions were also lifted away. This gave us Indoris a tint of happiness, right? But this happiness has not lasted too long as the Covid-19 restrictions are now back in the city.

Not only Night Curfew has been implied again but both the doses of Vaccination and wearing masks has also become compulsory in the city today. All these precautions are taken due to the anticipated third wave of Covid-19 along with the new variant Omicron. But with these precautions, what else is our city doing to stop the anticipated future wave of Covid-19? If you too have such questions in your mind, then keep reading to know all about it.

Vaccination for Children

The government recently released the orders to vaccinate children between the age group of 15 to 18 from 3rd January 2022 for which the registrations have started from 1st January 2022. Children of the concerned age will have to register themselves on the Cowin App with ID Proof. The ID card of the 10th standard is also valid for these children in the process of registration. For the children in the age group of 12 to 18, Government has given the allowance of using Bharat Biotech’s Cowin vaccine in any emergency case.

The Initiative of Booster Doses

TheGovernment is ready to begin the Booster Doses in India from 10th January 2022. This Booster Dose is a kind of precautionary Dose that will be given to the frontline workers in priority. This dose will also be given to the senior citizens (60 or above) of the country who have any kind of morbidity. These morbidities can be Diabetes, Cancer, Kidney or Dialysis Diseases, Cardiovascular Diseases, etc. The most important thing about the booster dose is that one will be given the booster dose of the same vaccine of which they have received the regular vaccines. Moreover, there needs to be a gap of at least 9 months between the second dose and the booster dose.

With the increasing cases of Covid-19 in the city, the authority has decided to get the Radha Soami Covid Care Centre ready to use. Situated on the Khandwa Road, this centre was temporary with only a hundred beds. But now, the beds are going to increase here to 700 and if required, preparations are going on to make it a centre with 1200 beds in the future. Oxygen Concentrators and other essential pieces of equipment will also be available at this centre.

All these precautions are being taken to stop the future wave of Covid-19, majorly the new variant Omicron. This new variant is much faster in spreading than the old one. But how dangerous is the Omicron variant for us and how do we cope with it? We talked about this issue with Dr. Tanay Joshi. He states that the new variant is surely stronger in terms of transferability and infection. However, the ways of keeping Omicron at bay are the same- Masking, Social Distancing, Sanitizing, and maintaining proper hygiene like washing hands-on time & not touching your face too often. Dr. Joshi believes that only this Covid-19 appropriate behavior can save us from any variant of Covid-19.

Dr. Joshi told us that around 50 mutations have been done by the Corona Virus. These mutations have developed a huge doubt in the minds of people regarding the major vaccines available presently. The vaccines might not be 100% effective but they will help us fight the virus to a large extent. So, getting vaccinated is important for everyone out there. If you or your loved ones have not been vaccinated yet, get it done now. Proper vaccination and following all the Covid-19 rules is the only way to fight this virus.
