Students preparing for the NEET UG 2026 Re-Examination scheduled on June 21 have received important updates from the National Testing Agency (NTA). Following the cancellation of the earlier examination amid paper leak controversies, NTA has released a revised set of guidelines that introduces significant changes aimed at ensuring a smoother examination experience for candidates.
Exam Duration Increased by 15 Minutes
One of the biggest changes announced by NTA is the extension of the examination duration. The NEET UG 2026 Re-Exam will now be conducted for 3 hours and 15 minutes (195 minutes) instead of the earlier 3-hour duration.
The examination will continue to be held in its regular afternoon slot from 2:00 PM to 5:15 PM.
According to NTA, the additional 15 minutes have been allocated to complete essential administrative procedures such as biometric verification, admit card checks, and candidate attendance formalities. This move is expected to ensure that students receive their full examination time without interruptions.
More Space for Rough Work
In another student-friendly update, NTA has redesigned the test booklet to provide additional rough work space.
Previously, candidates were allotted only two pages for rough calculations. Under the revised format, students will now receive four dedicated rough work pages within the booklet.
The new arrangement includes:
- Two rough pages immediately after the instruction section.
- Two additional rough pages at the end of the question booklet.
The change is expected to benefit candidates, especially while solving lengthy Physics and Chemistry numerical problems.
Important Instructions for Candidates
Students appearing for the re-exam are advised to carefully follow all guidelines issued by NTA.
Download the New Admit Card
Candidates must carry the newly issued admit card specifically generated for the June 21 re-examination. Previous admit cards will not be considered valid.
Carry Original Identity Proof
Students must bring an original government-issued identity document such as an Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, or Voter ID. Digital copies and photocopies will not be accepted at examination centres.
Reach the Centre Early
With increased security and verification procedures, candidates are advised to leave well in advance and reach their examination centres before the reporting deadline.
Follow the Prescribed Dress Code
Students should wear light-coloured clothing with half sleeves and avoid garments with large buttons. Slippers or sandals are recommended over shoes, in accordance with NTA guidelines.
