Devotees visiting the famous Khajrana Ganesh Temple can look forward to a smoother darshan experience as the temple administration has decided to widen the main entrance of the sanctum sanctorum (garbhagriha).
The initiative is being undertaken with an eye on the expected rise in pilgrim footfall ahead of Simhastha 2028. According to reports, the existing entrance will be expanded to improve crowd movement and reduce congestion during peak hours and major festivals. As part of the work, decorative silver structures installed around the entrance are being carefully removed and reworked before the widening process begins.
Khajrana Ganesh Temple is one of Central India’s most visited religious destinations, attracting lakhs of devotees every year. During special occasions such as Ganesh Chaturthi, New Year celebrations, and Wednesdays, long queues often form for darshan. Temple authorities believe the wider entrance will help improve crowd management and enhance the overall experience for pilgrims.
The entrance widening is also part of a broader modernization and infrastructure improvement effort underway at the temple. A larger redevelopment plan is being implemented to upgrade facilities, improve accessibility, and prepare the temple complex for future visitor growth.
As Indore continues to strengthen its religious tourism infrastructure, the project reflects a growing focus on balancing heritage preservation with modern visitor needs.
Do you think more religious destinations should invest in better crowd management and infrastructure to improve the pilgrim experience?
