  • Violators may face legal action under applicable provisions of law.
  • Decision aims to prevent drowning incidents, flash floods, and monsoon-related accidents.

Why It Matters

Every monsoon, scenic destinations around Indore attract thousands of visitors. However, rising water levels and slippery terrain have repeatedly turned these outings into fatal accidents. The administration is prioritizing lives over leisure.

The Story

With the arrival of the monsoon, the Indore district administration has imposed a complete ban on public entry to 17 major tourist and picnic destinations located in Mhow tehsil. The preventive order has been issued to reduce the risk of accidents, drowning incidents, and loss of life during the rainy season.

The restrictions will remain in force from 25 June to 22 August 2026. According to the administration, several accidents have occurred at these locations in previous monsoon seasons as visitors entered dangerous zones despite repeated warnings. Sudden increases in water levels, fast-flowing streams, slippery rocks, and deep gorges make these destinations particularly hazardous during heavy rainfall.

The prohibited list includes several of Indore’s most visited monsoon attractions, such as Tincha Falls, Choral Falls, Choral Dam, Sheetla Mata Falls, Kajligarh, Mendhi Kund, Jamanya Kund, Mohadi Falls, Ruski Waterfall, Lohia Kund, Jal Jamni, Garhi Kund, Tindiya Mahadev, Baghaniya Kund, Gogi Bhadak, and Hathiyari Kho, among other notified locations.

To ensure strict implementation, local civic bodies and police authorities have been instructed to install warning boards, create safety barricades, and monitor these areas regularly. The administration has also warned that anyone entering restricted zones in violation of the order may face legal action.
